I fell in love like the ocean
And its rebellious current.
I found you the way you find
Creatures living brilliantly beneath the seaweed
By simply dipping my toes.
Love came over us like waves,
Not slow and graceful,
But in a rolling, crashing, tumbling dance
That happened all at once
And covered us completely.
I fell in love like the ocean
That taught me to swim so it felt like flying
And that Atlantis is real if you know where to find it.
And let me tell you, it is more stunning
And precious
Than any historian, philosopher, or dreamer
Could have imagined.
I want to go with you
To the unexplored depths
And make maps of the darkness we were afraid to endure alone.
Your mind is like seaglass.
In fact, I believe you can turn any broken element
To beauty.
I fell in love like the ocean
That reveals hidden treasures
With each ebbing wave.
And when we bent to keep those curious trinkets,
The sea claimed us for it’s own glittering collection.
