I want someone to read my silence
so my bonds of loneness break,
or aid me break my quiet and
set me free from myself.
I want someone to see in me
not the distance in my eyes,
but the agony of a soul
that's despaired of nearness all.
I want someone to walk with me
in the hush of quiet night,
and mingle with my torment there
and thus dilute me for a while.
I want someone to search for me
down my soul's throbbing depths--
maybe there a man is found
fixing up a broken dream.
I want someone so much now,
for it is just per chance I've learnt,
it takes just one to make a dream,
but two to mend a broken one.
