We all must fall in the Fall (Prose Poem)

notapoet

The time is at hand when we must part, for I have reached the end of my cycle and no longer have the will to hold on to you against the mighty wind who rushes by unseen, pulling us from your arms on these cool long days.

You have given me life and made me a part of you, nurtured me and helped me grow, gave me love and cared for me as you have to all that live amongst me, as I have in return gave to you my love, helped quench your thirst catching the rain from the clouds. Captured and absorbed the food of light given to me by our grandmother who watches over us high above where no other spirit or being can fly.

But now I feel myself weakening and can no longer grasp, I feel myself falling, floating and spinning as I descend towards our true mother, the one who gives life to us all. I am not afraid, for I’m not alone, as I fall I can see many of my kind all around me and I know upon our death we will be able to give life as our true mother gathers us in and makes us apart of her once again.
