A World Forgotten

Alex Arnot

Miles of luscious, fertile landscape passed

Over fields of flowing, lively grass.

A bird's eye view of this world of joy

And another memory for grief to destroy.

For within this dream you once more find

A world forgotten and left behind.

A vision of peace, never achieved

A promise of serenity that only deceived.

To now only see when you close your eyes,

For when you fold your wings the dream subsides.

Awakening unto the crippling realization

That the beauty you saw was falsification.

Thanks man! This is one of my better poems and so I decided to pair it with my best song. The last stanza is my favorite as well.
