Beautiful Chaos

Izzi Lynn

I'm no sinner, I'm no saint
No blank space on me, I'm covered in paint.
I'm a canvas painted with flawed sin
Beautiful chaos painted across my skin
I don't want your money, don't want your crown
I'm only here to burn your kingdom down.
All the lies that you say you'll do
won't make me stop, I'm through with you
Grab your suitcase, flee your town
A thousand armies couldn't keep me down

Did I lose myself inside that extra glass of wine?
Good God, please give me a sign
My dear, you're the only kingdom I own
And your lips are my perfect throne.

All these empty words you say,
none of them will make me stay.
I'm a canvas painted with flaws and sin,
beautiful chaos splattered across my skin
If you loved me, you wouldn't make me cry
If you loved me, you'd let me fly
Grab your suitcase, flee your down
A thousand armies couldn't keep me down.

I wouldn't ever want you down
You're my pride and joy, and inside you, I drown
I'll sell you my body, give you all my land
I just don't want to be alone ever again
I love you unconditionally
So please come back to me, baby.

Nothing is unconditional, it all has a price
I'm too angry for you to entice
I don't want your body, don't want your land
I want to make you unable to stand.

Baby those words sound so empty
Is it possible that you still love me?
I promise I'll love you till the end of time
Please forgive me for that extra glass of wine
It turns me into a monster, but please stay here
I can't bear to lose you, my dear
I'll put down the wine, put down the beer and champagne
If it'll make sure you remain.

Those words that slip away from you
sound so innocent, so goddamn true
You tell me you love me, you'll never let me go
Maybe I can forgive you, as long as we go slow.

Baby we can go at whatever pace you choose
You're the one thing I can't bear to lose
I love every piece of you, every flaw and sin
So for you, I'll put down the gin.
You belong with me, and I belong with you
I know deep down, you know what I'm saying is true.

I'm a canvas painted with flawed sin
You say you love the splattered chaos across my skin
I don't want your money, don't want your body
All I've ever wanted deep down is for you to love me.

Baby you know I love you
I promise I'll never leave you
Please baby, be mine again
Nothing can keep me away, not even a thousand men.
I love you baby
You don't need to pray about me.

Please take me back, I'm sorry for making you sad
I'll be yours, forever and always, even if you're mad.
Choke me, bruise me, make my blood bleed
Scream and wail and awaken my greed
I shouldn't keep crawling back to your grace
But I can't seem to stop falling into your embrace.

You belong in my arms, you belong here
Don't cry Baby, don't shed a tear
The pain just shows you that I care
You know I don't mean to give you a scare.

You're the prince to my princess,
the tuxedo to my white dress.
You're the queen to my king,
the diamond on my ring
I can't help but love you
Even though I said we were through

I'm a canvas painted with blood and sin,
beautiful chaos painted across my skin.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I know there are a couple rough patches, but a lot of the lines in this one just popped at me. It was like I had the beginning and I knew the end, but some of the middle parts were a little harder to fill in. I myself am not in an abusive relationship but something about this one just spoke to me deep down. Hopefully I captured the essence right.
