A Dove Amongst The Crows

Edthepoet

I heard the whispers
of a preachers daughter
At the crossroads
Of cold water canyon

"You won't meet your destiny
On the roads you haven't taken"

If I strike you as a religious man, I'm afraid you are mistaken

"When you get to me
You'll see there's no wrong direction"

I've got half a tank of gas,
a beaten head full of dreams, a whole lot of guilt Inside of me
blurring my minds eyes visibility

"you can't achieve these dreams until you have awakened"

Now I don't know which way to go
The road ahead is not my home
The road back west is filled with ghosts
Her Eastern tones are filled with hope
Like a dove amongst the crows
