Sunsetting Summer

my-name-isnt -philip

cicada songstress singes in the eaves

alone, a sad sigh she heaves.

stones break the reflective surface of a pond,

a kaleidoscope, the last marvel of summer.

the bright sun's valiant shine now lost,

the atmosphere hinting winter frost.

golden summer slips away,

now those glories are a past day.

cicada songstress, feeble and sad.

chirping farewells, goodbyes to be had.

within those sunsetting summer leaves,

cicada songstress, under the sun a sigh heaves.
