Your Song Has Sung

Kurt Philip Behm

Can you write in spite of comment,

can your soul withstand the pain

Can you free those words hid deepest,

can you shoulder all the blame

Can your heart and mind together,

walk arm in arm as one

Can you take a breath once finished,

knowing now,

—your song has sung

All valid questions to pose to any writer. I suppose it takes a degree of courage to put your heart on display. We internally struggle to find the perfect word, the right tone, the meter, and then we let it fly to the grist mill of the world. Somehow there is a reward to these self-inflicted wounds, the appreciation of the beauty in what we've created. I find this poem to be beautiful. - Phil A.

Thanks, Phil. Your words are most poignant and kind!
