Sunshine

poetboy5454

I walk on this dirt strew path

Not ready for the aftermath

Now I'm running out of time

Barely taking in the sunshine

Seems like there is a million things to do

I remember the things I thought I knew

Feels like my back is breaking from this weight

Fighting back yet still subject to my fate

Sinking to the whispers taking over

Looking for the questions without answers

Finally feel where I belong, but I'm still lost

Can't feel the fire with this piercing frost

Closing my eyes, taking a breath

Pushing back the pain and death

Taking a moment to look at the skyline

Finally laid back, seeing the sunshine

Loved the rhyming sequence for sure. I, too, like happy endings, but of course all ending are not happy. Good write!
