Acknowledge the truth,
An unsettling reality,
That we know not the sun's warmth;
We know not the true light.
An unsettling reality,
That we know not the sun's warmth;
We know not the true light.
Like slaves shackled,
Bound within a cave,
Who are we; if we are?
Can we see the light?
Who are we; if we are?
Can we see the light?
Light, artificial, is what we see.
Death is all that we can know.
We try to entomb the divine
But we are the one's entombed.
Death is all that we can know.
We try to entomb the divine
But we are the one's entombed.
So you want damnation,
But not that which is your own.
We are all viper-brooding people,
Our venom sprays with each word.
But not that which is your own.
We are all viper-brooding people,
Our venom sprays with each word.
We don't know the truth,
We simply don't know.
We all dance to the hypnotic tune,
A danse macabre with the piper.
We simply don't know.
We all dance to the hypnotic tune,
A danse macabre with the piper.
Dance! Dance to the tune!
Dance until you fall!
Macabre, and fragrant, the posies,
Decay masked by flowery smoke.
Dance until you fall!
Macabre, and fragrant, the posies,
Decay masked by flowery smoke.
Who can escape this justice,
This very justice we seek?
Our shameful exposition
Quickens our disastrous fate.
This very justice we seek?
Our shameful exposition
Quickens our disastrous fate.
Dance! Dance your life away!
Dance on hollowed hill.
See where it gets you;
Our corpses are hollowed shells.
Dance on hollowed hill.
See where it gets you;
Our corpses are hollowed shells.

Indeed we are hollow shells, A dark and macabre write that tells it as it is. Points of truth told in the tale we do not know the truth. A good read
Thank you, friend. Your time and insightful are always most appreciated and welcome here! π€π
The only truth we know is what someone has told is the truth, so it is not our truth and the truth we all search for deep down, will never really be found. I really enjoyed the read, Thank you Tristan

Now that's a wow! I guess we all have to fill in the hollowness of existence to make it all worthwhile- a challenge to reflect on the deeper truths of existence and our own place in the world. What an intense and evocative poem!

Wow I need a torch. Thereβs alot of darkness in this poem Tristan. Pleased to say I know the sunβs warmth and try my best to steer towards the light. A great read though:) Excellent poetry.
Dance until you drop dead taken literally! On one hand Death is terrifying, but I've heard he likes to flirt.
