Darkness swallows me whole

WG7

The gun fires in the night

There is no light

I hear screaming all the time

There is so much grime

The children cry out for their mothers

They don't come - their all alone

The darkness clouds over my vision

The demons I hope won't win

I see black, oh so black

The cars whip by

The demons tell lies

How no one sees them - how no one hears

They start turning...the gears

It comes to the daylight

It isn't even bright

Night is taking over

There is no light

There is no might

No sunshine or happiness

It's you I miss

Tears on my face no light in my eyes

Why do you keep on telling me lies

He leaves me be - I'm all alone

I'm actually alone

Silver makes red appear

I can't hear

Come back my love one

He's not yet done

Kiss me goodbye

Do not fly

Hold me tight

Before I see the light

Nothing to see

Nothing to be

Darkness comes on the inside in

Darkness comes on the outside out

She is all alone

No ones there to catch me when I fall

No ones there at all

She is alone

The world's coming to an end

Is it all over

Is it all over

She got the battle scars

Oh why, oh why

Why did it have to be her

    Wonderful write

  • Tristan Robert Lange

Wow! I think I may have found a kindred poetic spirit! I relate with your poetry a lot and started writing poems when I was about your age! This poem reminded me of those days and reminded me of something I would write! Thank you so much for sharing. Keep writing. Darkness is always present. I have learned that in life. There is always something that haunts you; however, the darkness cannot overcome the light, which is also ever present and burns away the darkest places. Your poetry, my friend, is a part of the light. There's nothing wrong with letting the darkness be your muse so that you can get it out and live in the light! There's much beauty in the world, and turning the darkness into poetry is...in a word...beautiful! Keep up the excellent work! 🙂

Thank you sir. You are very kind to say that, but the darkness has been in my life for so long. Sometimes it's very hard to let even the smallest bit of light in.

Trust me...I know exactly what you are saying. No worries, it will find its way in even as the darkness persists. Keep on conquering it with your writing! Your work is beautiful and true! Love it. 🙂
