Appearing admirable to me
she smiled approvingly
in the mirror–
Statuesque shone for her lover–
Fashionable reflected a friend–
An intellectual imaged a peer–
But in the eyes of a subordinate
she was pure evil.

- Comment from author about the poem: I've been a poor judge of character. I have always been surprised to find out how people I thought I knew treated others.
