True Character

Augustus

Appearing admirable to me

          she smiled approvingly

          in the mirror–

Statuesque shone for her lover–

Fashionable reflected a friend–

An intellectual imaged a peer–

But in the eyes of a subordinate

          she was pure evil.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I've been a poor judge of character. I have always been surprised to find out how people I thought I knew treated others.

Excellent job bringing out this type of personality. I think many can relate.

Those in authority are almost always despised for nothing more than the fact that they are in charge. Beauty of the soul is all that matters. Life is too short to worry about anything else. Be true to your soul. - Phil A.
