Woman of the Flowers

Est1598

There she stands,

Child in her hands,

as her life flashes towards her.

In goes the sun,

like a ready-loaded gun,

a car comes speeding without care.

Memories are lost,

as if with no cost,

she catapults through the cold air.

Crashes into her dreams

followed by peoples' screams,

now all that lie are flowers there.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Hello, I know it's valentines day, so I thought I would create something a little different. Every time I go into town, I pass a flower memorial dedicated to a woman who was killed by a speeding car. She had a child with her, who thanks to her protection, managed to survive. This is an example of maternal love, as the woman was willing to lose her life to save her child.
