Distance and Time

If someone had told me back then
That we'd be here now
I would've laughed in their face and continued to doubt.
The idea of us being more than platonic was one I couldn't fathom
But you always had faith and challenged me to find out.

It all started with a message
Not in a bottle but on a Twitter page.
I suppose a lot of people can relate in this day and age.
What started off as nothing more than banter, consistent messaging just to kill time, slowly became a friendship.
The friendship ran deep, but the idea of anything more was kept at bay because of the distance in between.

A lot has changed from that first tweet.
Regular visits, siting across the table from you at dinner...
Soft kisses until the next time we meet.
We talk of the future, I in yours
And you in mine...the sheer thought of it is so sublime.
I'm no longer doubtful or sceptical
I believe in us now more than ever
Regardless of distance and time.

Challenges have arisen
Mistakes and wrong doings forgiven,
Amazing how quick the time goes by
when you're enjoying every minute of the ride.
In you I've found something different,
Something worth holding onto
And someone worth stepping out of my comfort zone for...
I'm excited for the future, I'm excited for love... but most of all, I'm excited to be making memories and walking hand in hand with someone I truly care for and adore.
