A Letter For You

Allan J. Renaldo

My friend,

Listen to me.

The pain is unreal,

Our water is too deep.

I cannot swim,

You cannot see,

And you will drown thanks to me.

My friend,

It's hard to say.

You should leave me,

It's better this way.

The knives are sharp,

We're going to die,

Please just leave me,

This needs to be goodbye.

My friend,

Hear me now.

Just leave me!

Get out!

You're going to get hurt with me by your side.

Please just go,

I need you to survive.

My friend,

These tears are for you.

I thought it was I that would get lost,

When in fact,

It was you.

I told you to run,

Why didn't listen to me?

Now I will always be with you,

Hanging from our tree.
