Tris Eaton

It brings happiness

It causes me grief

It influences my soul

Changes the feelings

Changes the connection

Changes my view

A song I once found happy

Is now sad

A song I didn't connect to

I now do

I want to do other things

But then again I don't

So I sit here and listen

And think

I go for a walk

And I listen

Because the silence

I can't stand it

This is a silence

That let my thoughts spin uncontrollably

I let the music guide me

So that I don't go off track

It keeps me grounded

It gives me ideas

It gives me lessons

It lets me feel things

I listen to the lyrics

and I write them on my hand

Like friendly reminders

of what I need to focus on

  • Comment from author about the poem: Music makes me feel all sorts of ways. It has made me sad and causes me to overthink things, but it also helps me be happy and rejoice. I find ways to relate to what I listen to, sometimes it isn't the happiest thing, but sometimes it is.

Falling into quiet, from whence all music springs. For only beyond sound, can be heard from the heart, of the most dearly cherished things.. (Luci ~ Here's some music that should bring you joy, rather than grief).

Lovely poem! Music does the exact thing with me, sometimes I will just listen to loads of things for ages and let my emotions go wild!
