Deadly to his enemies,
confusing to his friends
While faithful to his writing,
—all justified intent
Furious in times of war,
in peace his vision burns
But past the fray inside his words,
a gentler spirit yearns
Salvation long then sacrificed,
a fate he can’t deny
A cross that’s left for him to bear,
but still his spirit cries
Through battles mostly heaven sent,
and victories sealed with death
This guilt the price he’s had to pay,
now felt with every breath
One wish at last he prays out loud,
one cry is sent above
“My spear, my pen, my will to live,
I trade all back for love”

Time Will Test
A great man silenced,
his voice at rest
Last stanza written,
—as time will test

Great poem.
Thanks Victoria!
In my book series (The Sword Of Ichiban), we have many of those
campfires. I'm getting ready to send novel #5 to the editor in March.
Thanks as always.
Kurt
Amazing the prowess of your words... enjoyed it very much.
Thanks RR.
Great write
Thanks, Tony
Welcome
The first reminds me of PTSD. The second of someone like Shakespear or many others who withstood the test of time. How in the name of God to you find time to write books and your talents to this site? Kudos. Much respect. Enjoyed sword of Ichiban.
Thanks A. There have been 3 sequels to that, and a 4th coming out this year.
In order they go ...
'The Sword Of Ichiban'
'Darkening Sun'
'The Fall City Mandate' (written in real time)
'Revenge Along The War Trail' (back in correct time sequence)
'Death From the Sky' (due out in September, 2017)
I write Poetry late at night and then edit in the morning. I then write
prose in the afternoons. 🙂
