Face in the Flames

Edthepoet

Do you remember the days
We made paper planes
We threw them into the sky
And watched them fly away
Did you ever miss me
As much as they say?
Do you ever wish we
Left together that day?

Do you remember the times
We climbed these street lights
We looked over the city
As the night came to life
Why didn't you kiss me
As I blurred the lines?
Why didn't you give me
The time to make you mine?

I can still smell your perfume
Setting my memory alight
I'm sent back to places
That we froze in time

I walk into the fire
my pain burns away
I walk into the fire
I see your face in the flames

A sad reflection on lost love. We've been there and it hurts. The reminders are everywhere, and the pain won't leave. But - it's just a matter of time, before a new face appears in the flame, and many years down the road, the memories vanish. - Phil A.

Well written. Feel for you. Reminds me of a friend I knew when I was younger. Told me many years on that she panicked. But life had moved on by then. What's meant to be is meant to be I guess...
