Rigid Heart

AshleyBerkelmans

Minds contorted in a moment
Black turns sour lips
Red cheeks fade to sickly pale
While fingers lose their grip

Stale is the scent that once rained of roses
Broken are hearts that were once devoted

Anguish defined by distant gaze
A shadow takes her place

The lost words are boundless
Free flowing they sting
Like the wasp lurking beyond the stones that split skin

Malice and mayhem
Plastered to a sky
That once full of life
Reflects only the night

An empty promise
Told as truth
Undying though its intentions

Are worthless through the renegade who will seek to sabotage his contentment

An empty heart
A wounded soul
Eternal
Will all but last

A knife through the chest
Will strengthen at best
While the Phoenix she rises a star
