Stop Going in for the Kill

Edthepoet

My my what short memories
Yes I fell to earth with a bang
But this time spent recuperating
Doesn't define who I am
I'm still the brother who raised 2
When the old man ran for the hills
I'm still the son who stopped mother
Reaching for those pills
So stop going in for the kill
It's your own blood that will spill.

Maybe I'm a man of no use to you my friend
But that doesn't make me useless
Maybe I'm a man of different views
But that doesn't make me foolish
No that doesn't make me a fool

Maybe I should have loved
More than escaping my mind
Maybe I should've said
I'm not ok, I lied
No I'm not ok this time

It seems my aspirations
Were born from the air she breathed
And everybody's opinions
Mattered as much as the tv screen

It seems my indignation
Is getting the better of me
And everybody's opinions
Keep bringing me to my knees

How can anybody listen
When nobodies hearing me
It's hard to scream
when you can't breathe.
