Closer Than They

strawhatdinkyy

Like shadows of thoughts

They wind into your core.

And push you onward and evermore

To ignore the notion

That they aren't real.

They do not care for me,

They are not my friends.

The urge to run,

And to scale these heights,

Lean back and soar.

Cherish this one moment as a free being,

Then to be undone-

Unbound from the burden of being.

A dove carried by winds

Far above its ken,

Beyond my petty understandings of the world-

Limited by my own musings of the beyond.

“I'm fed up, done, aren't you?”

Says one voice to another.

Goading and pushing,

They bicker and shout

I can't take it i have to get out

So i run.

“What's the point we’re still here?”

Closer than they who care,

Within every glance, every carefully placed word

So as not to wake the ire-

Of my closest companions,

My most vicious critics.

To hate oneself is simple;

Likely the common factor

Of all human experience.

To hate one another within,

There lies the path-

“To the loony bin where you belong.”

“You crazy fuck.”

“Open your eyes and see,

You are not normal

You’re not one of them

You’re many of us

Why try so much?”

Let it all go

Embrace the entropy that is

Reject the rigidity of reality

Come and play and dance

Prance with us

“Try and fly”

Haunting in the gaze of all outside.

When staying silent i fear-

Am i alone? Chased by a hint of cheer, hope-

But they return, as do the birds in the spring,

With relentless assault on my soul.

I’ve known the intimacy of love,

I've seen straight to the heart of another being but still-

There is doubt there,

Two beings cannot understand

Completely the intricacies of each other’s minds.

Tis a miracle for it saves many

From the fear that those things kept dark,

Are in the limelight for all to see.

When they hear everything within me,

I fear all can see through the cracks

“They know you're different”

“They know”
