The swift

Gavin

It won't last for long

So savour it now

A bird sings his song

With freedom to tell

Though I may be chained

To your narrow eyes

The liberty I've gained

Is my greatest prize

As a bird has his cage

I have my plight

I'm free from all rage

The sun is in sight

One day I'll soar

In a sky so blue

And open a door

For all to pass through

So laugh at me now

At my clipped wing

But just watch how

This bird will sing
