Departure From Despair

Fits tune: Beatitudo

('O for a closer walk with God')

Based on part of Job Chapter 19

********

Despair not heart, if life seems hard

Be not o'ercome, o'er-tired

But trust as patient Job, for he

A fair outcome did see

Though trials real and suffering

Affected him, each thing

Made heavy, pained, and burdensome

He to his God did come

Did pour out troubles, expressing

His grief, distress, did bring

To God who could alone give hope

Enable him to cope

Yet mystery, Satan enticed

That Job was all sufficed

Made comfy, cosy, by God's hand

And prosperous in his land

Satan, permitted Job to test

By God, who o'er-watched, lest

Evil should win, and destroy all

Cause destruction, appal

Strong faith shone forth, a servant sure

Job held to God e'ermore

Though at the end repented he

When he Gods' ways did see

Submitted to God's wisdom fine

Job to Him did align

Worshipping His omniscience

Mere glimpses Job did sense
