A Wish in the Morning

AuburnScribbler

Wiping away the crust from eyes

I arise again hoping surprise

Today all your patience is paid

Thus no more slurry for you to wade

Tasteful welcome from orange juice

Clearly no woe today I deduce

For you see the next twenty four hours

There will be for certain no showers

The comic slots down to the mat

Surely an article not so flat

Dreaming to read of clear precedence

So no more talk of bad presidents

The wireless should bear good news

Technicolour crackles to gain, not lose

Hearing a fresh song from the soul

Not a plastic auto tuned black hole

Perhaps the box has a better show

With control in hand I ebb and flow

Seeing a stale, continuous opera

Is not what I want to see on offer

Yearning for something new to occur

Not to sit through the same old blur

For this is my wish this fine morning

At least this day, please no more yawning.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This was written on a tedious busy morning, a simple wish for more mornings and the rest of the our days to be less tedious. Hope you enjoy.
