Those Dozen Red Roses.

kevin browne

this combination that feeds the fire of love underneath my soul
in desire and relentless, it burns until the flames ignite with passion
founded by my own fix on ambitions that proceed to divulge
outward bound in thoughts that have blossomed on my lips
a love carried on a tightrope with a mountain on my back
never realising the pain I caught along the way that destructs
in giving away all of me that speaks of torturous feelings of guilt
that it inspires intellect to evolve from somewhere never seen
full to the brim with those dozen red roses that grew out of despair
left looking up to the Moon or was it Venus that I fell in love with
cutting through my core with the diamond I found in you
that never was an idea I believed in hurt when you called my name
and as God shines down looking at me with an Eden in my heart
them flowers with petals that capture the moment of paradise
passing clouds from Heaven I saw when little ole' cupid missed again
and with a wonder that holds my hand as another poem grows
my heart lives only to pump my life into an elderly of wisdom
that in loves direction followed my dreams where she would be.
