Down the Strait and Narrow in Spring (written in Lincoln)

AuburnScribbler

I refill my lungs with needed air,

So I can descend this rustic stair,

As my walk now will feel much steeper,

Treading down road that is now deeper,

Saying goodbye where MC was signed,

With poised legs I continue my stride,

Taking more care that I do not fall below,

No scraping scabs down Strait and Narrow,

Passing William’s street a second time,

So far so good with my decline,

Although my legs show fragility,

I will persevere with my rigidity,

The rail I see again to my rescue,

But my test continues, so no thank you,

On the left side I tread on cobbles,

Exercising my lower body hobbles,

Feeling stronger now as I pass the Rest,

With the sweat patches upon my chest,

Now nearing modern metropolis,

Walking by Carousel Chocolates,

Under the sign the road evens out,

I have conquered second half of bout,

To celebrate a wonderful descent,

I could climb up that hill again.

I read that about the Magna Carta. Only 4 copies of the original and one there in Lincoln. We don't have any cobble stone streets in the USA. I love the looks, but pity the guy in a wheelchair. Nicely done.
