My heartbeat
It in itself a gift a miracle
I say this why
For my heart
May not have had a beat
For i might in this moment be dancing upon the skies
Hadn't my father decide
I may have never had the chance to look at him in his eyes
My mother my father for they would fight
And then one night
A blessing
I lay sound
In my mothers stomach
I stay
Alive my heart had a beat
My heartbeat
In danger
Abortion
My mother to make a decision
My father to marry
For the pitter patter of my heartbeat
Apparent to be the trade
My heartbeat
It's the wedding day
¨I do¨ must slip from the lips
Then i may stay
My mother she is nervous i can tell
She knows im there
My heartbeat
Its no longer in danger
Im meeting the world today
I will open my eyes
My father will see
His baby
His little girl
My heartbeat
It in itself a gift a miracle
I say this why
For my heart
May not have had a beat
For i might in this moment be dancing upon the skies
Hadn't my my father decide
My heartbeat
Mustn't be denied

- Comment from author about the poem: this is a poem about me. I was going to be aborted if my dad didn't marry my mom. They are divorced now. It is also about my heart beat existing and being alive.
