Until the Break of Light

poetboy123

The shadows grew closer, their claws outstretched

Their taint filled the air, my chances farfetched

Endlessly they rose and fought upon our fleet

Tension high strung, silence, only a heart beat

Embodiments of fear and spreaders of hatred

Soulless husks carved into fear-inspiring forms

Their forces dominated many, as they spread like a flood

Thunder clouds of animosity, taking over many by storm

I stood tall, eyes determined, facing each one

In their red eyes, I saw broken memories of the past

Terror invaded my mind, for a moment I knelt broken, done

The Shadows came forward while I stood aghast

Suddenly new memories blazed and I rose

Courage against hopelessness, my truth against foes

I roared and vowed to battle on until the break of light

Despite my bravado

Despite my show

They overcame and it became night

Yet there were no stars
