lovelydarkanddeep

she looked so beautiful today

her hair was curled and perfectly laid over her shoulders

she had a heart shaped hairpin on the top left side of her head,

that made it easier to see her face

she had just the right amount of makeup on

and her eyes complimented her gorgeous smile

she wore a black, skin-tight dress that hugged every curve

I waited for them to say her name

and when they did, I watched every step she took, and heave of her chest

I accidentally stopped breathing as I saw her

between gasps of breath, I glanced down her long legs,

to her extravagant dark heels that fit well on her feet

when the ceremony was over, I realized I was lost for breath, and now hyperventilating

I stopped breathing for so long, that when I stood, I couldn't tell whether I was walking or floating

I had no ability to focus nor think of anything besides the beauty that motivates me to wake every morning,

just so I can be blessed by an angel,

and stand in her crisp vanilla scented presence.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I showed one of my close friends this, when it happened to be about their ex. So through this, I gained a new, amazing person in my life, who I am forever grateful for, for they "made my life a bit better than it was before." P.S. I know you'll see this, so I just wanted to show my appreciation for you and the difference you have made in me.

    Very striking.

I set out to write poems like this. Calm, beautiful and, as i said, striking but they always end up not quite as planned and often a bit dark. Oh well. It takes all sorts, people and poetry.
