Blinked Twice.

kevin browne

I cried when I left and thought I knew it all
In some damaged days, I had some magic dreams
Left upon a stone filled in with which way to go
Supposing this was new, a different world outside
With all those lonely tightened up ageing faces and
The sound of love in life's music playing along the streets
Cobbled out underneath with a penniless homeless place to live
Learning untimely how things are meant to be in life
It's an uneasy feeling when you have no place to stay
Twisted up in blankets and a silhouette of an empty box
Heard that before but I can't remember why, how or when
Sharpened up some elements which crazed my mind
Variation taught me well in people with those I can't find
So rusty yet so mighty in our minds we do think
Strangers often enough who never know who they are
Blinked twice and another one gone just like the last
So I remember home and where we all love to be
That day when I cried and left, something was on my arm
Then I got it, it's so hard to leave when you have so much charm.

we seem convinced we know it all, until we realize we know jack shit of the world and our dreams are slapped in the face with reality and see home was quite charming after all.
