Beyond the Façade

JustABird

You think I don’t see you,

the you down within,

that I don’t see the spirit

that hides beneath skin

but you say it all

with a smile, a laugh.

I catch glimpses of who you are

in Instagram photographs.

It’s all there in your tears,

I can see where you’ve been.

And there are little clues to who you are

inked into your skin.

The people you choose to love,

the magnitude of your dreams,

all show me the person you truly are

and not just a puppet on some strings.

Welcome back. Worth the wait. I especially love the opening 4 lines.
