An Ending

poetboy123

Finally, it was over

He lay before me broken

His flame within still stirred

I braced to complete one final sin

Though everything was lost

His body was rigid with passion

Ready for his life to pay the cost

From the peak to bottom, they almost won

Outside his troops and friends lain slaughtered

Within them, revolution he had spurred

Now fallen and alone, no one left to fight

It was time for his journey to the eternal night

Then, he looked past me, clobbered

Staring during the song of a bird

"Listen to it rejoice, listen to it sing

For even it knows this isn't an ending

Kill me every day in every single way

But the truth will be here to stay

And no one can protect you from the winds of time

You will face punishment for every single crime"

Still, the pathetic fool babbled on

In a moment more he would be gone

I struck down the blade and listened

Satisfied to finally hear only silence
