Meadow of Memories

Daisyy

Do you remember how you felt?

I bet you do

You cannot imagine how I felt

I had a beautiful flower, an innocent purple lily

I wasn't asking for you to take it from me

I did not hand it over

You took it and turned my purple lily black

My meadow of memories were poisoned with on dead lily that was once purple and full of heart and joy

One day I will get around to tending to my meadow of memories but whenever I go past what was once beautiful and mine, I find myself frozen in time

How can I go back to take that lily out of my garden when it kills me to even walk past it?

But it didn't kill you to take it

And I will always wish it had

  • Comment from author about the poem: We all have a meadow of memories. Some good memories... some bad. Sometimes it is not our fault if a lily fades or a rose dies, but it is our choice what to do with it once it has wilted away.
