dishonesty.

Ruth Fadairo

I tell you what you want to hear
I auctioned your heart. I auctioned your soul.
I pushed your boundaries, I encouraged your fear,
And watched your emotions burn, burn as easy as coal.

Is this because I love you ?

Or is this because I don't care ?

Perhaps the thought of seeing your pain

Is hard for me to bear.

But yet I continue to toy with you

I'll play the game I know best.

Maybe I enjoy it,
Putting your strength to a test.

I lay in bed with you,

While we ponder on our future
The iridescent thoughts of our "love"
The compatibility of our humour

The beauty of "what could be"

Is enough for me to be persuaded
But yet do I believe these fantasies ?
Your love has my body feeling annihilated.

Well I promise to be honest, when you are too
Are the feelings you have, the same for me too ?
I shall not speak, not until you bring this up.
Be quick now, before we both give up.
