Ashes

Battle wounds here from fights I've lost

         Being swallowed by emptiness

             Laying in this dark abyss

            Words of encouragement

         These shadows have tossed

               And 'Welcome home'

are the sweetest words I've ever known

Even when they come from demons

I put a smile in its place

             And makeup on my face

                 Don't I look better?

    And these monsters never scream

         Words lighter then a feather

Comforting me like 'We're in this together'

It makes it easy to give in

And go back to that place

       When I couldn't recognize a face

        In a completely different world

              A whole other place

Living off of coffee and cigarettes

                Pills every night

             Chaos in my mind

         And not enough time

                Never enough

There's no pity in the city

I swear its much too busy

Too many stories to be told
