A Warrior's Legacy

Gino

Oh great warrior
under the cover of darkness,
hold your head up high
for soon the light of dawn
will draw near
to unravel its verdict

Fight valiantly
to quell the insurrection
from within,
for the night is long
and weary
without suffice

Where for thou
art thy savior?,
for your tired soul
seeks an abandon
away from this punishing
desert onslaught

No oasis
in this unforgiving country,
for your thirst
has been your steady companion

Blood is spilled
under the deception
of a religious fervor;
Oh, how my countenance
reflects the comprehension
of your mortal struggle

The candor of my light
seeks the refuge
of your truth
behind every obscurity,
imparting the peace
that I savor for you

Forgive all volumes
of unfortunate travails,
for your epic of heroism
is well remembered for
many to behold

May flights of wisdom
guide you through
the teeth of the lion
and harbor you onto
our savage garden
where we once hunted
under the guise
of the club lights

Ah, vagabond of the wind,
may God grant you wings
of valor to stealth you
through onward to eclipse
the surmountable horrors
of your pain

Ceremonies await,
for your plight of redemption
will course its mark

I will light a candle
for you my friend,
for a vigil shall reminisce
the twilight of a harmony
we once shared

Thanks again my friend, maybe our channels do cross at times haha. This poem is for my friend, who used to party with me at the club scene all the time. Even though he was married, that didn't stop him, haha. He joined the army and left for Iraq to escape his nagging wife, and so that is his story...
