Bare feet. (A letter to myself)

Edthepoet

Getting over her, Simply put,You won't. People will tell you that all you need is time to get over it, which is true, up to a point, but you won't get over her, she will always be a part of your life, and even though it doesn't feel like it now she is a more valuable part now to you than she ever has been. She has bought u a ticket & set you off on a journey to an unknown destination without any luggage, without a passport without any money to buy your way out, she has set you free. However you will not realise this truth, in fact you will refuse to believe it, you will at first do everything in your power to get back to her, to get back to familiarity, to get back "home" & you may even manage to get back to your old front door, however an unfamiliar face will answer and tell you that nobody by that name lives there anymore, and all the while, while u are trying to get back u are indeed moving further away, further away on the journey she set you on, you are not on a journey to get over her, you are on a journey to becoming a new version of you, a better you, a you that has had it's heart broken and found the courage and tools to fix it, but as I say you wont get over her and neither should u want to, as she was the one who sent you on this journey to becoming a better version of yourself, without even realising it she had the best intentions for u all along. The "her" that you want to get over will become a friend to your new mentality, a friend to your new way of thinking, The version of "her" you want to get over will in time become, in your mind, a new person with new meaning and within exactly the same time frame and at the exact same time, you will become a new person with a new understanding about the whole ordeal, with this new understanding comes a fresh outlook on life. You will not even realise you are on this journey until you reach your destination, you will however feel every bump in the road, every piece of turbulence, every sharp turn and every emergency break, but you will not see where you have come from or how far you have travelled until the vehicle you have been travelling in unlocks it's doors and lets you out to walk with bare feet around your new destination. To find out where this new version of you now belongs....
