Fear

vana17

You think of them as foreign, strange

Their relationship is something you should avoid,

                               Keep your kids away from.

You say you aren’t against it, no, not at all

But you just don’t want your kids thinking its ok

Thinking that love can go beyond the means of being able to reproduce

Thinking that love has no boundaries

Perhaps you don’t want them thinking at all.

You say it doesn’t bother you, you “respect” them

You still see them as people

But when a trans teen is murdered you bat the other eye

You see that couple holding hands and quickly

Turn your child away, distracting them from such a sight

No, no we could not have your son’s masculinity being threatened could we?

And perhaps what all this fear of boundless love boils down to

Is a fear of love itself

Because if you loved yourself first then the love of others,

You would accept without a second thought
