TOKE, MY REMEDY

cynah Rae

Sometimes I get lost in my thoughts
Reminiscing about life, love and loss
As I toke on this herbal smoke.
Seems to always occur around the some time,
Somewhere between late night, early morning as the informercials begin.
In my time of solitude, I find solace in peaceful memories, successes and triumphant moments life's difficulties can never take away from me.

I realise I'm nowhere near serine
That place of complete satisfaction
When you feel complete
In mind and body with a sense of complete well being. With continued puffs, I numb the bitter taste of looming failure, carefree for a moment in time. No fear, no worries, just the taste of this here remedy as it slowly elevates me.

I know it does nothing for me,
Doesn't heal, temporarily soothes,
Yet still for another night, I find myself red eyed, almost high with the probability of being wide awake till sunrise.
I guess for a brief moment it suppresses my anxieties, takes me to a place of possibility and feels like a comfort to me.
I know it does nothing for me, one more puff and perhaps that's it for me.
Eventually I fall asleep, only to repeat the same routine.
