Ghost Cat

A. F. Naturaliy

I walk into my room,

Silence.

I set my book-bag down.

Thump.

I sit on my bed.

Creak.

Looking around, everything is the same.

Silence.

It doesn’t seem the same – like a case of amnesia.

Gasp.

Tears fill my eyes slowly.

Whimper.

There’s something missing.

Heavy Breathing.

Something is gone, but I can still feel it being here.

Sniffle.

No more meowing, No more kitten.

Sobbing.

No more pouncing, no more tail whipping around my face.

I wipe my eyes.

She’s at rest.

I get up from my bed.

She’ll be okay, and so will I.

I touch her bed gently.

I love you, my ghost cat.
