joke? but what is someone didn't think it's funny

what if someone was barley making it though the day abusive mother screaming in her ear, kids at school laugh at her because she can't concentrate on her work because every moment she's fighting the demons in her mind telling her to end it, fighting her memories of the man taking his way, fighting the thought of when she might see her father again it's been only a few months and he keeps putting her off like a chore.

the girl didn't laugh not even a smile instead that night she waited till everyone was asleep and silent tears fell down her face and she took that sharp sliver to her skin and smile and she made red and closed her eyes as all her problems drifted away just as did her life.
