Beside a stream I watched the thwarted flow
of her love glide away in the dim light
She marveled at the neon and its glow
Svengali’s dream allured with eyes so bright
Her heart wept tears of blood desiring fame
She walked in dreams to purge her early days
and tried to mask the pain endured that maimed
The blind see darkness on the brightest days
Her longing took the sight from her mind’s eyes
This blindness made a joyous love most grim
Her spirit soared but only in her sighs
She lived in stars, another's love a whim
