To the boy who hurt her

vicbed

To the boy who hurt her:

I’ll never forget that night

I’ll never forget the night she came home in tears

I’ll never forget seeing her shaking in fear

She reeked of beer and whiskey but that didn’t seem to be the source of tears

She said you took her upstairs

She stumbled, one step after another

She wanted you to stop there, you should have stopped there

But you didn’t, you drug her one step after step and then stopped at the bathroom

when I thought her story was close to end

When I thought she would say you stopped and let her leave

When I thought somehow you remembered the good in you, I thought

That you realized it was time to give her back to her friends and pretend you didn’t try

isn’t that a funny thought,

Pretend, well she tried to.

Pretend, pretend like it never happened

Pretend that you never drug her into that bathroom or slipped anything into her drink

Pretending can only work for so long

She proved that, you helped her

She tried to pretend and that brought her to me

She told me everything, everything she could remember

You took a lesson from your own book

You saw her and pretended

You Pretended you had never seen her before

Pretended you didn’t shatter her world

In case you didn’t know, you did that

You broke her

You turned her into a girl that didn’t know herself

You turned her into a girl who constantly looked over her shoulder

That night you pretended shattered her more

That night, was the first time I saw you

That night, was the first time she saw you and then

Suddenly, it all came back

She could remember now

She could see the hate in your eyes

She could feel your arms tightly pulling her down

The screams, her yelling, she heard them and realized, they were her own

I’m sorry you were low enough to do what you did

I’m sorry that night in the club scared her half to death

I’m sorry that, that night you thought you won

You didn’t win, she’s stronger now, different but stronger

You took something from her

You also gave her something

You made her scared but forced her to stand up

She’s different now, and ill hate you for that forever but she’s stronger now and for that I thank you

Great story. Date rape is a real issue, and this poem helps to bring awareness. Thanks.
