When the wave came...

ramlahali

The wave came crashing down on our land

Playing the part of the destroyer

Glad to escape the sinking sand

No one left to get a lawyer

It rolled in unexpectedly

A great wall of grey

It didn't come effectively

And took everything away

It swallowed up with it's big mouth

All that you could see

Didn't care and headed on south

Didn't wait for anyone to agree

Why does it make us feel such fear?

Why is there terror in our eyes?

As painful as the sharpest spear

Great ear-piercing cries

Children on the beach

Drowning in the storming sea

Their mothers out of reach

Waves loving to be free

Most people are lying, dead

Beautiful buildings gone

Objects floating on the sea-bed

Nothing left at dawn
