Goodbye

"The world is so big, and our hearts so small," she whispered into his neck, "how can we stay with those we love when we are all scattered? When our souls are contained to one place?"
"Don't worry, don't cry love," he whispered back, " if our love is truly as great as you say, it will travel the land until it meets the hearts it is connected to. I won't forget you, my darling. I'm only a long drive away."
She pulled away from his arms. He admired her in every way. Her soft hands still held his, and her golden brown curls fell in front of her face. He could not see her big brown eyes always so full of love. The moon reflected of her flowing white dress and the flowers woven into her hair. She looked like an angel just standing there. But deep down he knew. Angels only come when the good Lord sends them, and they go with the twitch of a heavenly wing. She was his angel. His heaven bound love. And they would not meet again till the good Lord bid them to.
He let go of her hands, a tear streaming his freckled cheek. " I love you," he proclaimed as a little bit of himself died inside, " Goodbye."
