My Mother

John Lee

There's only one woman
 who never left my side
No matter what the journey
she's been in the whole ride

I feel blessed that God created
a good heart in my mother
From that heart of love
gave life to me and my brother

I know there's been times
 that she worried and cried
From the troubles I've been through
 locked up and nearly died

Not knowing if today or the next
if her son was dead or in jail
I'm glad she kept her faith
asking God to keep me from hell

There's a lot I thank God for
but there's one above all other
I'm glad He chose this woman
 to be my loving mother
