Mirrors

Caden_Mercer10

The reflection, it shines the image
Of a place I don't want to see.
And it shows me the sorrowful face
Of a man I don't want to know.

I put my hand up on the glass,
And feel the other side.
Sometimes, I wish
I could go through it into another world.

The other world, this mirror dimension,
Would be a mirror image of this world,
But also be different
In ways I can't even imagine.

Their ice would be warm,
Their steam cold.
Their rocks soft,
And pillows hard.

You would live in a reality
That is identical to ours,
Yet all completely different
In ways I can't comprehend.

I rest my forehead
on the sheet of cold glass,
Wishing I could escape through it,
And live a better life.

This world I imagine
Behind the gate of reflection,
It is too confusing to know,
Yet I completely understand.

I wish and wish
I would fall right through,
When I felt pain in my heart,
And everything went cold.

I'm frozen in a mental paralysis.
I don't know where I am,
Until I feel myself sink
Into an unknown surface.

The further I go,
The warmer I feel.
And when I make it to the other side,
I realize where I am.

I look around,
and everything's the same.
All except the feeling
Of the air around me.

The sink is running,
And steam is coming off.
As I run my fingers through it,
The chill of it shocks my body.

The cold steam makes me realize
Where I am meant to be,
Right here as I stare
Through the other side of the mirror.
