Love hurts

When you meet a person who connects with you on every level, it's hard to ignore. Every day you spend with them, you love them even more and before you know it your heart is gone. It's been trusted with them, and you pray that it's not wrong. For a while you'll be happy, and you'll cherish your partner more so than yourself. You'll be blinded by the time they put you on a shelf. Your world breaks when they utter the words. They'll tell you to move on, and your arguments aren't heard. You loved them like no other, every night and each new dawn but they only saw another relic to pawn. You can't move on. Your world's been burned away. Wake up feeling hollow every damn day! Sunny skies are grey, and even an atheist will pray, searching for the right words to say. Third degree burns on your battered soul, and regaining happiness alone becomes the goal.
