John R Tarter

Dusting

A crisp air of january
setting quick upon the clay,
showing little imprints
in an unassuming way

a frosty web of arctic
resting thick on everything,
the trees awash in crystal
with a prickle in their sting

frozen portals tightly sealed
behind a spangled glow,
porch swings hanging quiet
under dustings of new snow

a cloud of breath sails aloft
above each child at play,
while the majesty of winter
is resplendent in display
