Painting of the Past

poetboy123

An age of darkness where even the smallest light may shine

The opportune moment to stand and face the signs

Confront the wars and lies, time is slipping away fast

Will you make your mark, or become a painting of the past?

Are you willing to become a fleeting memory

On the expanse of our tarnished reality

Or shall you rise in the stalemate to be free?

Fighting back, our struggle to be our key

Apply strokes of meaning to what you are

Find your purpose amongst the scars

Imbue a guiding light

An end to an eternal night

Emotion rocking through your very soul

Everyone is an actor, choose your role

Battle for truth, join my cast

Strive to create a peace that will last

Or has your hope taken one too many a blast?
And will you fade upon the waves of time, a painting of the past?

There is an empty canvas in front of everyone

We each choose what to draw, what to become

Though once you've finished, it is never truly done

Will you take my hand and wage war for our freedom?
Lies, Hate, and Envy in our world continue to thrive

Risking my life just makes me feel alive
